Easter 2009

Capture the magic of jumping at its best with Phar Lap Travel's trip to Oakbank for the Great Eastern Steeplechase Carnival. This is without doubt the most exciting fixture on the racing scene at Easter. John Russell (Sky Channel and Best Bets) will again be your host. Travellers are assured a most enjoyable tour for this famous Racing Carnival in South Australia.

Oakbank rivals the Melbourne Cup in size and colour and it's 80,000 strong crowd annually on Easter Monday makes it the biggest Picnic Race Meeting on Earth. Easter Saturday attracts a crowd of approximately 35,000 and sets the scene for a fantastic Monday meeting.

 2009 Oakbank Premium Tour

Day 1 Friday

Your Qantas Airways flight departs Melbourne for Adelaide. On arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel at the beachside suburb of Glenelg. Your accommodation is at the 4.5 star Stamford Grand Hotel, Glenelg. Glenelg is Adelaide’s Premier Beach with access to many great restaurants and shops.

NEW  Tonight we meet at 5pm for a Special Welcome Cocktail Party with Drinks & Nibbles included.

Day 2 Saturday

Oakbank Carnival

This morning you will be tranferred to the Adelaide Hills and the first day of the Oakbank Carnival for a full day of racing.  Members entrance is included.

Capture the magic of jumping at its best during your trip to Oakbank. This is without doubt the most exciting fixture on the racing scene. 

NEW  Included today is lunch and beverages in the Punters Retreat Marquee, with TV and Tote Facilities. 

At the end of the day you will be transferred back to your hotel and the many restaurants of Glenelg will make for a great night out.

Day 3 Sunday

Calcutta

After a morning at leisure, we will travel to Oakbank for a BBQ lunch & Calcutta. This will give you the opportunity to meet the jockeys and hear the latest form for Monday.

Day 4 Monday

Great Eastern Steeplechase

 Another fantastic day of Racing at Oakbank. Today is the Great Eastern Steeplechase.

NEW    You will again have access to the Punters Retreat with a full lunch and drinks included.

At the end of the day you will be transferred back to your hotel

Day 5 Tuesday

The coach will transfer you in the morning from the hotel to the airport for the return flight to Melbourne.

The conclusion of a fantastic Easter Weekend of Racing.
